Afterburner Types and Sizes
Clean Stream Afterburner systems come in 2 versions, "Catalytic Oxidizers" and "Thermal Oxidizers". Our highly efficient Catalytic Oxidizers rely on small burner and integrated catalyst module to operate effectively at only 750 F. Thermal Oxidizers, on the other hand, rely on a larger burner and very high temperatures of 1200-1400 F to operate optimally. Both versions come in various sizes to accommodate all size roasters. The larger the roaster's exhaust flow rate, the larger the afterburner typically needs to be. Most often, only the "roast air" is treated, which is the exhaust coming directly from the roaster drum. The cooling rack exhaust is not typically treated by an afterburner unless it's required by your local air quality management district.
